Breast Augmentation: Enhance Your Silhouette and Boost Your Confidence

Objective: To improve breast shape and proportion

Treatment time: 1 to 2 hours

Recovery: 4 weeks

For many women, breasts represent an important part of their feminine identity and self-esteem. Whether it’s a question of volume, shape or symmetry, feeling comfortable and confident with your breasts can have a significant impact on your overall well-being.

Breast augmentation, also known as breast enlargement, is a surgical procedure that uses breast implants to increase the size of the breasts, improve their shape and proportion, and restore volume lost after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss.

If you’ve ever considered enhancing your figure and boosting your self-confidence through breast augmentation, this procedure can offer transformative results.

Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgeries worldwide, with a high rate of satisfaction among patients.

The main goal is to achieve a natural and harmonious result for your body, taking into account your individual preferences, anatomy and expectations.

The Advantages of Breast Augmentation

The most obvious benefit is an increase in breast size, giving you a more curvaceous and proportional silhouette.

Breast implants can improve the shape of the breasts, making them rounder and with a more defined projection.

Many women have a slight difference in the size or shape of their breasts. Breast augmentation can help correct this asymmetry, creating a more harmonious balance.

After pregnancy, breastfeeding or significant weight loss, the breasts can lose volume and firmness.

Implants can restore this lost volume, restoring a fuller, more youthful appearance.

Many women report that they feel more comfortable and confident wearing different types of clothing after breast augmentation.

How do you know if breast augmentation is right for you?

If you identify with any of the following situations, breast augmentation may be an option to consider:

01. You would like to increase the size of your breasts.

02. You feel that your breasts have lost volume or firmness.

03. You have breast asymmetry that bothers you.

04. You would like to improve the shape and projection of your breasts.

05. You feel that larger breasts would improve the proportion of your body.

06. You have realistic expectations about the results of the surgery.

07. Physically and emotionally healthy.

It is essential to have a clear understanding of the objectives of the surgery and to discuss your expectations with a qualified plastic surgeon. During a consultation at our clinic, our plastic surgeon will assess your case, discuss your preferences regarding the size and shape of the implants, explain the different options available and answer all your questions.

Take the first step towards feeling better, with a plan designed for you and natural, long-lasting results.

What to Expect from Treatment

Breast augmentation surgery usually takes between 1 and 2 hours.

Breast augmentation is usually performed under general anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure.

The implants can be inserted through different incisions:

    • Inframammary: A small incision in the crease below the breast. It is one of the most common routes and allows good control and visibility for the surgeon. The scar remains in an inconspicuous place.
    • Periareolar: An incision around the areola (the pigmented area around the nipple). The scar is placed in an area of natural pigment transition – areola/skin – making it barely noticeable. The size of the implant to be used is limited by the size of the areola. It can be used to perform breast lifts, or slight and subtle mastopexies.
    • Axillary: An incision in the fold of the armpit. This route leaves the scar more hidden, but it can be more difficult for the surgeon to position the implants accurately. Future revision surgeries will have to use one of the other routes.
    • The choice of insertion route will be discussed with you, taking into account your preferences, the type of implant and your anatomy.

Implants can be placed in two main planes:

    • Subglandular: The implant is placed directly behind the breast tissue and above the pectoral muscle. This position gives a more natural appearance and is used in patients with enough subcutaneous tissue to surround the prosthesis harmoniously.
    • Submuscular: This position is used in very slender patients, in whom the implant may be visible, especially in the upper pole, if it is placed under the gland. In these cases, the implant is placed under the muscle so that it helps to disguise the prosthesis and harmonize the contour of the breast.
    • The choice of implant location will depend on your anatomy, the amount of existing breast tissue and the desired result.

After surgery, it’s normal to feel some discomfort, pain and swelling. Simple painkillers will be enough to restore your comfort. You should wear a supportive surgical bra for four weeks to help with healing and minimize swelling. Intense physical activity should be avoided for at least four weeks.

Most patients are able to resume their light daily activities within a week of surgery. Physical activities with an impact should be avoided for the first four weeks, given the risk of mobilization of the implant.

The results of breast augmentation are usually visible soon after surgery, but the final appearance of the breasts will continue to improve as the swelling goes down and the implants settle in. The aim is to achieve a natural, proportional result that improves your silhouette and self-confidence.

State-of-the-art implants do not require compulsory replacement, except in the event of rupture. However, after many years, the surgery may need to be revised for two aesthetic reasons.

The first is that a capsule builds up around the implant. Over the years, this capsule can deform the implant, altering its shape and artificializing the result. The second is that the breast ages and the skin and glands may fall off, reducing satisfaction with the result.

It is essential to discuss your full medical history with your surgeon and follow all his instructions before and after surgery. If you are a smoker, you should stop smoking before surgery, as tobacco can affect healing.
